REGARDING CC OFFICERS , DIRECTORS , MODERATORS , ETC

  This topic started off when I went to a bracket tourney to check how much time was left to play in the round . I just happened to notice 4 participants that hadn't played yet . IDK if they even needed reminding . But I posted a heads up anyway .
  Even though the last 7 bracket tourneys have made it to the end . I don't think any have gone without at least one player being WD ( withdrawn ) . Most likely unintentionally forgetting to return in time to play in one of the rounds . Sometimes there are quite a few that " miss the cut " inadvertently . This is much more common in the CC tourneys . Where there isn't even a count down clock for each round ( to my knowledge ).
  As owner of two forum websites I am completely swamped with endless tasks . It is my choice and I can't even keep up with everything I would like to do . Believe me too many things to try and list . 
  That is why forum owners delegate various subjects and tasks and responsibilities to  moderators , field agents , directors , what have you . They can have any label you want . the idea though is to take some of the burden off of one individual and assign specific responsibilities to others . Then each one of them step up and do what they think it takes to make their areas as efficient as possible . These moderators , directors , etc are usually volunteers that know that they would like to help  out in some way and being able to do so and seeing that what they do helps things run more effectively and efficiently . Is reward enough .
  In this forumotion website . Moderators etc have various administrative rights . Able to edit , add , delete , move , ban , remove , moderate , etc .
  Unfortunately in the WGT forum . Only the owner has any permissions at all . The 4 officers I am allowed to name have no extra rights . This is ridiculous and no one knows why it is taking WGT admin so long to change this . 
  Evidently there are no definitions for what a moderators duties should entail . That is completely up to the administrator ( me ) to figure out . So in this website ( forumotion ) . Field agents were created . Their task is basically to promote the CC and this forum . Every chance they get . They are supposed to be committed to recruiting new members to play in our CC and bringing new members to this forum / website . Not sure they do much of that . But they did volunteer .
  Other areas that could use some assistance and maybe a new perspective are 
  CC tournaments . Person or persons that would monitor the tourneys . Make sure that there are plenty of a variety of current tournaments going . Equal tourneys available to all the tiers currently in the CC . View the participants , maybe message in the forum if it looks like any might miss playing the next round .
  Last played date . E1 can see that . E1 can see if a member plays 1 or 2 or 3 other tourneys per day but never seems to have time to play CC tourneys .
  Awards , trophys and accolades . Many of the CC tourneys and events and individual achievements are worthy of mention or awards or trophys and are too numerous for me to keep up with . In fact I miss many of them . Entries into the " Best of Replays " and " Hall of Fame " . If one person just had that task . It wouldn't be so hard to keep up with it .
  There are many more areas of interest that someone could assist in . I thought having a successful CC with multiple members . I thought volunteer assistance was what it was all about . I know that other CC's have all kinds of different people running all kinds of different things . ( I think ) . This is my first CC so I guess I am just assuming . I am sure that is part of it though .
  I could go on and on . I have before . Just like talking to myself .

   What happened to personal responsibility? If you sign up to play, then make sure you play. This will be the last tournament I create. I'm not going to be a hall monitor.

    That's fine Rob . And you are right . For the most part people do check themselves . But having forgotten to play in many rounds myself and seeing that there is generally a couple others that just don't get back in time . ( still a minority ) . I think it is ok to try to give someone a heads up if they are about to miss their round . You don't have to . It is not required .
    There is some thought that creating a tournament brings on just a little more awareness to the creator to keep tabs to see that it is running well . Again . Not required but just sportsmanlike , polite , helpful to the greater good . Completing the event successfully .

   Thought you were making it a requirement of the creator. As a courtesy, or helpful reminder I think it makes sense. I had a problem with it being mandatory. Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding. Maybe I shouldn't post until I have my second cup of coffee.

    Lol . Rob . I learned a long time ago . That I can't say Please and Thank you enough . I only make suggestions . And even been called Hitler for that . So the 3 conditions to join the CC are the only things close to mandatory .
   1) Play CC tourneys
   2) Message owner once in a while
   3) Register in the website / forum
    That is it . There are many people that think those are way to demanding . So I have to be very careful how I word things and make suggestions to the CC . It's like walking on eggshells . One of you could blow at any second . This is the best 50 we have ever had . I would like all of you to stay . If I could make something mandatory I think it would be in the area of communication and interplay amongst members . Not to socialize . But to achieve more CC member play and awareness .     You guys have no idea how hard it is to restrain myself and keep from saying what i really feel about the way some of the problems transpire . And what I would like to do to solve some of them . But it's just not diplomatic and I have to much to lose . 
    However . Early on in the CC last year I wrote a few notices to some of the more inconsiderate members of the CC . Didn't hold back much then .

    Please don't take me wrong . I am only trying to have a healthy conversation with you .
    I want to add that these last 6 bracket tourneys have finished for the first time ever . That is fantastic . That really shows much better dedication to the CC from its members . All should be commended for that . Thank you very much .

   I have no problem with your judgement on any aspect that effects the CC. I just happen to believe that the way you worded the suggestion made it seem mandatory. You cleared that misinterpretation on my part up nicely. I do get the feeling though that you are upset with me for voicing my opinion. I hope this is not the case. Open communication and the exchange of differing views can only help a group and avoid festering resentment between members. Ultimately, you have the final say on all matters as you own the CC. I respect all the work you do for the club, just as I hope you respect my right to express my own personal opinions.

  im gona through my 2 cents in...very healthy conversation there, i believe guys. I kinda feel like and i know its mothers day.....but if we sign up for a tourney ..we dont need mommy holding our hand to the first tee...but this is only opinion...and there are like azzz holes ...everyone 's got 1.....i like the fact in this CC you can voice your opinion.

      You know I kinda wish I could take that stand too . But looking at it from my point of view . As an owner . Having seen many of our bracket tourneys fail , CC tourneys finish light on the end because a couple few didn't get back in time for one of the 4 rounds .Forgetting to play the daily BLITZ or just forgetting to post your scores . Having to spell out the protocol as many as 4, 5 , 6 times to players for many many events and then they still couldn't get it right . Is nothing new to me , this CC and I am sure many many other CC's too .
      It is very nice that you guys are on top of it and know exactly when to return to play and never have other things going on that might just make you overlook that you had a specific time window to get back to WGT and play that round before the time runs out on the 3rd round . Most of us just don't got it like that . Unfortunately those things happen to some of us humans on a regular basis .We can usually find our way to the first tee though .
      In my quest to try and make this cc more efficient in all areas . One of them might be to find a way not just to finish a bracket tourney . But to finish it with all participants completing their rounds . When someone legitimately accidentally misses the cut . They also miss their chance of potentially winning . 
      That is one of the reasons that in recent weeks I posted that there could be a position of CC Tournament Director open to one who voluntarily could keep abreast of the tourneys and see to it that they run well ( to a point , no one is a miracle worker ) .
      But I guess for that to happen . There would have to be others on the same page as me . Doesn't look like that is the case . No worries . We will be fine .
