When is National Read a Book Day 2023?
National Read A Book Day is celebrated on September 6 every year.
History of National Read a Book Day
While National Read a Book Day is believed to have originated in the US, other details of the day’s history are unclear. What is clear, though, is Americans’ love for books! And, for many, this is a welcomed day because 81% of us don’t feel we spend as much time reading as we would like. So, today is the perfect opportunity to set aside a little time to catch up on our “to read” list.
The popularity of book clubs points to our ongoing love for books. They date back to the 1600s with women’s Bible studies. But, in the last few decades, reading has taken on a much more social element influenced, in large part, by Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club. Starting in 1996, Oprah’s Book Club recommended 70 books contributing to over $55 million in sales and has been credited with inspiring millions of people to read books.
Over 74% of Americans have read at least one book in the last 12 months. Sure, the busyness of life definitely gets in the way of our reading pursuits with many other activities competing for our time. Luckily, electronic platforms have made it easier for us to read on the go. Almost 20% of books consumed are now via electronic platforms. Whatever format you prefer, grab or download the book on the top of your stack and dive in!

Read a book
Of course, that’s the point of the day but you can put a fun spin on reading by joining a reading challenge. Google “reading challenge” images and you’ll see dozens of checklists and ideas on selecting books that will stretch your imagination while finding a book you won’t be able to put down.
Volunteer with your local library
Chances are, you have a local public library that can always use volunteers. Libraries do a lot of important work for their communities creating a safe, quiet space for children to learn. Community meetings are held in libraries and many function as polling places during elections. Donating books to your local library is a great way to share knowledge with your community and book donations often help libraries flesh out their shelves.
Share your passion with someone
Share your passion for reading with someone. Read to your children in order and pass along your love of books to them. You could also volunteer to read to an elderly adult unable to read on their own. Reading aloud to them not only improves your brain function and reduces your stress level, but it also creates a connection they will treasure and stimulates their brain activity as well.

Books expand our minds

PDB1. I am sorry for the post that someone posted as a quote coming from me. That post was deleted immediately by me because I thought I was posting about CT. I didn't mean it against you. In its place I said something to the effect that "you are my friend". I would never say anything against any of my friends. I also TRY try try not to say anything bad about anyone, however it is getting extremely difficult not to lash back at CT. He has been all over me for years. I don't know what his problem is. I truly believe he needs psychiatric help. There is something wrong with that boy! Anyways, what can I do to make it up to you?

Thanks for the game pity we were not as competitive as we could be only I cant stop members wasting Super passes. By the the time we get matched up we have none left. In that regard, I need to let you know that I'll be on a trip without access to internet from next Thursday, 6-3, until Saturday, 6-18. Hi Paul. I do live in Goodyear and that's why I came up with the name. Just typed it in. WGT just let me know it was available. Had I known there was another club by nearly the same name I would of tried something different. Didn't realize it until I had setup the club. As you said nothing we can do about it now since WGT doesn't allow name changes. I'll keep your offer in mind if it doesn't work out.

You were directed to our club by mkrizan86. Regarding that, everyone is entitled to opinions. FWIW about 40 of our 60 members have joined our FB Group, including 18 of 19 with sub 61.00 averages. Obvious no proof of anything but I think it is a possitive thing.
Your club has 21 Master Tier players or greater. Put together a list by July 24th and I will get volunteers based on tees and tier for play in August, if that is truly your intention.

I have seen everything that has transpired between you and Andyson in open forums. I simply asked that out of respect, you and Colin take your personal battles elsewhere, as is only right in memory of one who gave so much to our community. There are many who would think that bringing any type of personal disagreements to that particular thread was very inappropriate. I will leave it at that.

Thank you for your lovely post on my wall. That review was one of the best (if not THE best) I have ever had on my blog. I work hard on it and it's a labor of love and a work in progress. When I can shoot 52, then it will be perfect. LOL
Feel free to check it on occasion, since I update it occasionally and post the date of the update in my profile intro. I'm always working to get better and sharing that knowledge makes the game more fun for everyone. That's my only intention.

Thanks for the kind post on my wall re: the recent club clash. To be honest, we don't encourage our members to play them however. We feel its a WGT money grab and doesn't help our club at this point. As such you wont see widespread participation from us. However, if at some future point you want to entertain a club v club match play competition, we would be open to that.

Thanks for the game pity we were not as competitive as we could be only I cant stop members wasting Super passes. By the the time we get matched up we have none left. Just to prove the point we won two match to zero where clubs did not play at all and in doing so used up six super passes. Again all the best for the future

Tanks for you good wishes. I see we were hammered, I just cannot get my members to understand that its not a sprint but a marathon. They all pile in use up all the passes, then wonder why other clubs score so highly. Anyhow thanks again.
I would also like to know how you animate your page, yeah I know its most likely very easy, but I am 70 years old and I can assure you nothing is easy for our age group.
