INFORMATION VINE * 50 Airport Fails Caught On Camera That Have Us In Tears *.
Some people believe that the airport is the busiest place on earth, as passengers and cabin crew are always on a rush to catch their flight. Some say it's the saddest place, especially when parents working abroad have to bid their family goodbye. If you ask us, we think that the airport is one of the funniest places all over the world.
To understand where we're coming from, you'd have to get a glimpse of these hilarious photos captured at different terminals. From random signs at the arrival area to unusual behaviors at the runway, prepare yourself to be highly entertained.
Layovers Are Out, Lay-under Is In
Delayed flights, long layovers— these are just some of the obstacles travellers should be prepared to face when riding an airplane to someplace else. Lucky for this sleeping redhead, she doesn't mind waiting at the airport at all. In fact, she managed to fit herself on the seats and catch a few z's.
If you ask us, we would definitely do the same gesture, so long as no other passengers need the other seats. Although, we'd only be brave to do this if we were with someone who could wake us up when it's time to fly.
Welcome Home, Parents!
Delayed flight? More like delayed maturity. This adult-looking guy in a penguin-themed onesie pajama fetched his parents at the airport with a super helpless yet hilarious sign. He embodied a college graduate who just recently graduated and decided to move back in with his parents.
We're giving this dude the benefit of the doubt and assuming the best that this was just a practical joke. If not, then we millennials really have some growing up to do.
Not a Tight Leash
The popular expression "to keep someone on a tight leash" blew up on this poor mom's face as her children were the ones who got a hold of her instead. While one of her boys found his feet, the other lost his balance. This ultimately put the mother at a crossroads.
If there were mommy points for effort, we'd definitely give it to this airport mum. She even chose a whimsical monkey design to trick her sons. Here's hoping she was able to tame them on the plane.
Flight in Shining Armor
Excuse me, can we talk to the manager of this airport? We've got a ton of questions. First of all, why are there people in a shining armor or a tin costume? Were they cosplayers and was there a scheduled convention at the terminal?
Secondly, since when have there been shoe shiners at the airport? We're not against them though, we're just asking because we're interested. Lastly, we are dying to know if the knights' pairs of shoes are the only items that they asked to be squeaky and sparkly.
Alternative Way of Flying
Passenger falcons, welcome aboard! Wait, what?! With those flappy wings, do they really need an airplane to fly? The answer is yes, if they are owned by a Saudi prince. In this case, the royalty wanted his birds from the United Arab Emirates to fly first class.
The thing is, some airlines like Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways allow animals on their plane as long as they have passports, but usually limited to six creatures only. The Saudi prince brought with him a whopping 80 falcons so he must have been really powerful and wealthy.
Check in Your Lightsaber
Are there any bigger fans than Star Wars fans? From tattoos to merchandises to costumes and many more, those who love this giant film franchise have found countless ways to express their love for this worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. In the case of these four best friends, they decided to dress up as they waited for their friend who was returning from Denver.
Lo and behold, their passenger friend was in full Darth Vader regalia. These five fans were actually heading to the release of the latest Star Wars movie. Guess what, Vader made a grand entrance into the arrivals area to the tune of the “Imperial March."
From Prison, With Love
There is nothing like a dad and his kids pulling a prank on the queen of their household. This Toronto family took things a bit far— as in airport far— by welcoming her home with an unusual sign. The mom, who was arriving from Rotterdam, was greeted with a cheer and an additional cardboard that read "from prison."
Completely mortified but in a funny way, the blushing wife and mother pretended she didn't recognize them and walked away. We know she would never forget this joke and look back at it laughing.
Work Hard, Play Hard
Airport employees— sometimes they're also regular workers, okay? We're not actually sure with the "okay" part since checking luggages and validating visas should be given much attention to. This was captured at an Italian airport and what can we say? It is la dolce vita.
In all seriousness though, we're going to admit that we've played solitaire at work too, but only during our breaks and not with passports that have yet to be verified. Can we expect a tighter security next time?
Baby in a Bin
Have you ever been on a plane with crying babies? It's kind of frustrating and annoying, right? Try to put yourself in the parent's shoes though. Traveling with their offspring is a challenge, too. They have to constantly feed them, change their diapers, and endure the dagger looks of fellow passengers.
The hassle does not end aboard, there is also an obstacle at the security. So, we totally understand if this preoccupied mom had to put her baby in a bin for a while.
Forrest is off to See Jenny
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny. Forrest Gump has completely fallen head over sneakers for you that he's flying just to catch sight of you. Just kidding, we thought it's the legendary man himself, but it's probably just a cosplayer. Or maybe it was Halloween when this photo was taken?
Our final theory is that this dapper just so happened to have the same fashion sense as Forrest Gump, but we don't believe much in coincidences and the haircut and Nike shoes were a total giveaway. We would like to ask if he careened his way to the airport.
Personal Baggage
We're very much aware of carry-on baggage and personal items, but this man took his luggage game to the next level. You'd have to hear his story though, so you'd get where he's coming from. You see, this traveler has lost his luggage many times already and he's had enough of it.
To avoid airlines sending his bags to the wrong city or having confusion at the claims area on whether who owns the luggage, he had his face printed directly on a hard-shell rolling bag. Now if you'll excuse us, we'll be doing the same technique with our bags.
Carry-on Luggage
Luggages can be quite expensive because of the brand and the material used to manufacture it. Sometimes, you would realize it's not cheap because it is actually multipurpose. For the "Most Creative Dad of the Year" awardee here, he utilized his stroller to carry their travel items and his daughter, too.
The multipurpose luggage definitely gave this lad a run for his money. Now, for parents who are travelling anytime soon, this is how you can handle a situation where your kids are too tired to care where they fall asleep.
Not Light Travelers
We understand that some people have to bring a lot of baggages if they're planning to be away for a long time. Our only question is, is a typewriter considered an essential item for these passengers? Apparently it is, as these hipsters from Seattle were spotted on different occasions.
We totally dig the vintage vibe but we're not sure if the airport security and other travelers shared the same sentiment. Just imagine the nonstop clicking and clacking of the bulky alternative. Perhaps consider a laptop next time?
Just Check the Stoplight
Nope, this is not an edited photo. It would be like that sometimes with regional airports. Often short on space, the terminals are nestled into the midst of a small island. This city in particular had to intersect its tiny runway with a main thoroughfare. The situation is unideal and hazardous to vehicle drivers.
To make things "easier," they just make out a drawbridge or train crossing. The poor drivers are left with no choice but to halt as they wait for the plane to land successfully.
Choking Mokie
Lucky for "Mokie" the passenger, he has remained friends with his college roommates even if they're already working adults— the jury's still out on the adult part though, as they picked him up at the airport from his first business trip.
Mokie just wanted to be fetched, you know, but he got more than he bargained for as he stepped off the plane. The astonishing sight of his friends holding signs of him choking on a mozzarella stick at their favorite bar brought back an embarrassing memory. Good times.
Spark of Genius
If there's one thing that both constant and amateur travelers are thankful for at the airport, it's the existence of rapid charging stations. Not only do they fill the battery of a smartphone, the customers are also able to lock their phones up. It's a series of hits and misses though, because they forgot to take note of alternate charging needs.
Say for example, this owner of a gadget that doesn’t appear to be either a phone or a tablet, they had to take matters into their own hands and directly charged the object in question into the socket.
Per Favore!
Well, this is what you get when you tie the knot with a certified prankster. We certainly hope this guy's wife really did know what she was getting into when they got hitched. Dressed as a limo driver for a “Smokin Hot Italian Chick,” this funnyman waited for his lady who was coming back from a work trip.
The poor woman came to the arrivals hall with her co-workers and was greeted by her husband’s stunt. It's all good though, because he was able to sway everyone with his natural charisma.
They're Terminally Grounded
One of the worst nightmares that travelers can experience is being stuck in an airport because all flights are cancelled or delayed. This is a piece of cake if you're just about to leave your hometown. However, if you're a foreigner, you'd have no options but to stay at a costly hotel or make due with whatever resources you have.
These two travelers were in no mood to leave the terminal, so in order to get some shut-eye, they provided darkness for themselves with these boxes.
Divine Intervention
As much as nuns are held in high regard, they are no exception to airport security guidelines. In this case, the traveling sister was searched thoroughly by the TSA. For devouts, this may seem unnecessary and ridiculous, but the agent was just doing her job. Underneath her robe, the only weapon discovered was some greater power.
Thank heavens everything turned out well. All they found in the reverend mother was her simple dress, some holy books, and a diary of a famous nun from the 1600s.
Some Air-obics
Before "flex" was a thing, there was "air-obics." Just kidding, the term didn't take off except for these two b-boys who were clearly strong and bored at the airport. The guy who was sitting had a book to keep him company, but his friend needed a lift so...
Judging from the man behind who was genuinely distracted from playing video games, this entertaining photo is definitely authentic. At least they didn't just amuse themselves, but other passengers waiting to board their flight as well.
Feel at Home
Most passengers throw a fit after hearing that their flights are cancelled. It is so easy to fathom their vexation especially if they spent so much and are on a rush to head to their destinations. After the announcement, it almost seems automatic that a mob of angry customers march over to the service desk and make a scene.
Don't categorize this bloke right here among those passengers though. If anything, he's the complete opposite. He made himself at home, lying on the cold hard ground with his backpack as a pillow. Hopefully when he wakes up, the crowd had died down.
No Uber, No Problem
There are times when people are just down on their luck. A perfect example would be this fellow who couldn't hail a taxi or book an Uber. Since they didn't want to miss their flight, they ended up riding a motorbike and sliding the luggage with them.
If we couldn't get a taxi or book an Uber, we'd also resort to this. Wouldn't you do anything to not miss your flight? We're worried though if the baggage made it to the airport in just one piece.
Airport Grinch
Firearms, knives, explosives, these are no-brainer items that are not allowed at the airport and on the plane. For obvious reasons, they put the lives of the passengers and cabin crew in danger. Sometimes though, there are authorities who are strict to the core.
For the TSA, they basically banned snowglobes to avoid getting the water switched to a clear explosive liquid. We feel for the snowglobe enthusiasts. For the Bangkok airport, they prohibited Durians to avoid the unwanted smell and to keep the passengers from feeling dizzy. Okay, that makes sense.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil
Better safe than sorry is this guy's motto in life. He's not taking any chances and you can't convince him otherwise. Can you blame him? We all have our own flight routines to make ourselves comfortable, so who are we to judge?
What we would like to know is where he purchased those noise cancelling headphones, neck pillow, and eye mask, and if we're getting a discount if bought all of them at the same time. Sweet dreams and safe flight, mister!
Frozen Flight
Did the plane just want to chill out there in the cold or did the pilot had one too many iced beverages before landing? That's what we would like get answers on from this chilling photo (too soon?). It was clear that the aircraft just wasn't going to fit in that hangar.
Perhaps the captain lost control of the engine and so it travelled much too far down the runway. Here's to hoping that there were neither passengers nor cabin crew injured from the incident.
One-Way to South Africa
The sight of penguins at the airport could definitely brighten up anyone's day, but these adorable animals were actually victims of poachers. Thanks to the penguin conservationists' quick and successful work, the aquatic birds were transported back to their native habitat, an island off of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Still in awe? Yes, it looks like a scene from Ice Age or Madagascar but this situation is real. Luckily, these traveling penguins were put on a commercial plane back to where they belong.
Daddy's in Dreamland
You know how when a group of immature friends leaves a drawing on the face of their drunken friend? Well, that's basically what's happening in this hilarious photo, except the daddy's not drunk and his daughters were the culprits. Perhaps he was really tired that he just dozed off at the terminal.
With no gadgets (props to the parents!) and other toys to play with, the two rascals ended up putting on sticks on their father's arms. These girls have some explaining to do when their girl dad awake from his slumber!
Run(a)way Bear
For normal runways, the sight of a polar bear wandering on the runway is certainly unusual, but for Alaskan airports, not so much. Known for its abundance of wilderness, the state has embraced its oneness with nature.
Unfortunately for the passengers, their flights were delayed until the white mammal was moved safely away from tarmac with the help of tranquilizers. The poor guy looked like he was really lost... or maybe he wanted to fly to go see his friends in Canada and Norway?
Perfect Timing
Dad, we couldn't be more grateful that you're home! Judging by the look of the younger boy, he couldn't be more relieved to find a "replacement" for Mom. What have these rascals done that made their mother quit two weeks ago?!
This humorous sign is one for the books. We definitely would like to see the other end of this light-hearted joke, which was the reaction of the boys' father. No worries for serious peeps, Mom was probably behind the camera.
Wait for It
Talk about passive-aggressiveness! We're not entirely sure if this photo is real as airline protocols would have the plane be safely in position first before letting the travelers on the passenger steps or let alone on the runway.
Can you imagine waiting for a plane to arrive like a bus? If only they had the same level of safety protocols. Edited or not, we somehow get the eagerness of the passengers to board the plane to avoid being stuck in line and struggling to settle on their seats.
Leggo My Eggo
It's true, airports are far from perfect. No matter how fancy and well-developed they are, visitors will always find their shortcomings. Although, passengers in return give the management and the authorities a fair share of headaches too. In this peculiar situation, the trippers decided to check flats of eggs.
It could be that they just really wanted to go with their eggos, or they wanted to test how cautious baggage handlers are. We can't even fathom the idea of those eggs cracking on someone's suitcase.
Want Some Pillow With That?
Sleeping in the airport has become a habitual thing for travelers who are waiting for a long flight. There are some who choose to take a nap on the floor while there are others who lean on a wall for support as they catch some z's. Then we have this dude who has the most unusual sleeping position.
He chose to use his baggage as a headrest and the seat for his lower back rest. The drowsy passenger found comfort in his strange setup. Let's hope that luggage doesn't slide away.
Call Me Baby
It takes a smart person to come up with a good wordplay, but a "songplay"? Now that's genius. For those of you who didn't get it, the clever sign was based on Carly Rae Jepsen's hit song Call Me Maybe. It's probably the best way for a baby girl to greet her daddy with.
By the look on Harper's face, it seems like she didn't expect what she saw. That's love at first sight, Harper. Cheers to you meeting your father for the first time!
Gather 'Round Kids
Bet you've never seen anything like this before. An old fella on a rocking chair at the airport? Well, that takes us back to those late night storytelling adventures with our Grandpa. He would gather all the children around and smoke his pipe while everyone listens to him.
Perhaps the bloke here was waiting for his grandchildren... or you know, he could just be a regular guy who was waiting for his luggages and felt like sitting on an unusual choice of seat.
Comforting Signs
One of the things a tripper has to anticipate when staying at the airport is the long queues outside the comfort room. For some reason, the other passengers just don't have a sense of urgency and you're left there waiting in line and desperately ready to go. This sign in a Chinese airport knows what's up and it's here to help you locate the toilets.
If we may suggest though, the management should be investing in more bathrooms instead of making these huge accurate signs. No one's happy that they have to reach the point where they have to cross their legs.
Fish Be with You
Some tourists feel a sort of contentment in choosing their outfits at the airport. Some love the thought of buying souvenirs at Duty Free. Then there are those who find joy in the little things such as styling their suitcases.
In addition to being fashionable, these sushi luggages are also practical because they are easy to spot on the belt. The raw fish should still be good to eat given that they were kept in the hold of the plane where the temperature is very low. Just kidding!
Conservative Airport
Just when you thought you've already graduated from curfews and ground rules imposed by your parents, the airport limits your time with saying goodbye with a loved one. Ha! This "rule" affects couples who are actually in a long distance relationship the most. Airport goodbyes are difficult, especially when you don't know when you'll see or hug each other again.
This funny but compassionate sign is a designated area for lovers who are seeing someone off on a trip. Just remember, no kisses above three minutes!
"Elf" Check-In
Some passengers might think that the separate check-in stations for elves are too much. Some would even dub it as a form of disrespect and discrimination towards them. What people don't take on board is the fact that elves could carry diseases. So, if they don't want this precautionary measure, then just don't touch anything elves have been in contact with.
Ha. We're just kidding! No, there are no elves allowed at the airport and we're not even sure they exist okay! We just wanted to get in on the fun of making light of this "self check-in" station. The management should fix this sooner before more people make jokes out of it.
No Horses and Reindeers
Bad news for cheerful kids this year, it seems like Santa Claus is having some financial crisis so he might not be able to afford all the gifts you have been wishing for. He's flying commercial instead of riding a one-horse open sleigh so there really must be trouble in paradise.
On the brighter side, at least, Father Christmas has kept up with the latest fashion trends. He either forgot his passport in North Pole or he's at the airport to pick up his elves.
Airport Goodbyes
What's worse than a breakup? Being dumped at the airport with a public sign that ultimately reveals the trivial reason why you are being broken up with. Britney didn't hold back from telling Simon (and basically all the onlookers at the terminal) that it's over.
According to the woman holding the mortifying cardboard, her (ex) boyfriend was still using the selfie stick that she clearly didn't approved of. Didn't they talk about this? Come on, Simon... you could have prevented this.
How Reassuring
Here's an unsolicited advice to passengers flying out of Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow: Please don't look out of the window when you have just taken off. The unexpected sight of a crashed plane sitting in the adjacent forest might make you uncomfortable. Oh and yeah, fasten your seatbelt.
If you're curious like us, the downed jet is what was left of the Dagestan Airlines Flight 372. Its engines failed shortly after it departed another local Moscow airport, Vnukovo International Airport. The pilot tried to land the plane in freezing rain but he missed the runway.
Mommy and Mini-Me
Admit it, a funny situation is even more hilarious when the person pokes fun at their self. In this case, this new mom made light of a situation on her "Welcome Home" sign.
She pointed out the fact that she has gained weight since having the baby, although it does not matter and no one could really notice it because she looks every bit of gorgeous. As for the newborn, the father was invited to meet his mini-me. What we would do to see the look on Daddy's face!
No Rush
We love the energy that this grandma on the moving walkway is exuding, she does not give a hoot about others as long as she's not breaking any rules. That's one of the perks of reaching a certain age. It's like a level unlocked in a video game.
Unfortunately for these youngsters, Granny was not only ahead of them in years, but on the flat escalator as well. They might have ended up being blocked by her, but they seemed to enjoy the joke. The guy in the back was not having it though...
Ozzy, Is That You?
It almost looks as if this guy was asking for it or he's just plainly a brave soul. Wearing the absolute wrong shirt while going through security with TSA? What a tough a young man! We're so happy the woman in charge took the joke lightly and was rather amused at his sartorial choices.
Since we're talking about the King of Metal here, is there a slight chance that that was Ozzy Osbourne himself? Perhaps he cut his hair and decided to create a new life in a different country? No, okay, we just really appreciate the irony behind this shirt.
Doody Free
Aside from falcons and penguins, pets are becoming a staple at the airport. Some travelers just can't afford the thought of being away from their beloved animals. In an effort to make things easier for pet parents, the airports have been building infrastructures such as doggy daycare and pet spas.
Here, we have the faux fire hydrant and an astroturf as part of the pet relief areas. This surely benefits the owners and the pets, but it's also for airports to avoid waste strewn.
It's The Thought That Counts
Here's a perfect example of the saying that it's the thought that counts. This adorable little girl tried to copy the airport signs she sees on TV and in movies upon picking up her grandparents at the airport. It just so happens that her sign is, well, illegible.
We're pretty sure that as soon as her grandma and her grandpa disembarked from the plane, they felt the youngster's heartwarming welcome. Teaching her how write legibly would be a good bonding experience, too.
He Took A Stand
There are times in life when we are put at a crossroads. We don't know where to place ourselves so we end up following our instinct. In a way, that's similar to taking a stand because we are making a choice for ourselves.
Here, we see the chap's dilemma, he has a chair and he wants to sit on it on the moving walkway. There are just two options though: walk or stand. Well, he gave them a run for their money and took a stand.
Drawing the Line
It's already been established how traveling with a baby or a young child is not a walk in the park— especially when it's a long flight. Parents are advised to pack as many entertainment tools as possible, such as books, card games, and even gadgets if desperate times call for it.
This Chinese man obviously didn't get the memo, and his little boy was more than happy to showcase his artistic side while waiting at the airport. The thought of Dad being held at border control for the damaged government document gives us a headache.
Namaste!
Where do you practice yoga? At home? At the gym? How about at the airport? We know where this lad does his routine. This is a first for us, but we totally get him, as sitting on the plane for hours is evidently not good for the body.
Even experts suggest that passengers do a little exercise for your circulation to keep moving. This yoga enthusiast didn't waste any time and space and took advantage of his resources at the terminal.
