Can somebody please explain how these leagues work. I'm #1 in the platinum III league right now but I don't understand what determines what league I'm in & how exactly they work.

In a nutshell, the more you win H2H games, the higher you advance. Unless I am mistaken, Platinum III is the highest level.

UPDATE: I stand corrected... please refer to Dodgy's response. Many apologies.

It's not it's how many coins you "win". If you were getting returned the basic and won 10 games in Paris and didn't lose any that would count as 1,800 coins onto your score. If you played in Rio lost 9 and won one that would add 36,000 coins to your score.TopShelf2010:

Diamond 1 is I think.

If you click on the little picture at top of coin room page that shows your current level it will show you the leader board for your group of players for the week.
It’s basically a H2H “coin room” weekly league. You do win some extra coins if you finish in the top of your group at end of week but it’s a pittance compared to what it usually takes to get that spot anyway. There are promotions and demotions up or down a level dependent on where you finish.
Also there is nothing to win or receive if you win the highest level.
It really doesn’t amount to much other than a warm fuzzy feeling in your if you’re into that!
IMHO it’s just another way for WGT to get people to play more, which leads to spending more $$ buying balls, equipment, ect.

Yes, Diamond 1 is highest.
Above Platinum III are Platinum II, Platinum 1, Diamond III, Diamond II, and then Diamond 1.
And yes, it's how many coins in a week that you win, not games. Week ends Sunday night and then you might be in a new section for the next week.

Top 3rd advances
Mid 3rd maintains
Bottom 3rd demotes
Standings are based on coins won. Coins lost are not scored.

I suspect only if there are 90 in your league.
Top 30 promoted, bottom 30 demoted and the rest stay.

Yes . And I read that those top are only eligible to stay on top for a couple few weeks . Then they are systematically dropped to allow a new top leaderboard .

Coins are worthless.

On this topic, does anyone know if your competition in Coin matches get harder based on which Tier you are in? Do you have a higher chance of being matched with someone in your own Tier, or a Tier nearby?

As far as the Diamond League is concerned .( thread topic )
I think the original intention was that more evenly matched tiered opponents was the intention . As parity is the desired and preferred result . But I think with the vast amount of entrants of various tiers . Tier parity is not likely .
As far as Coin Rooms are concerned . One is matched with the other players who enter that Room . Whatever tier they may be .
In WGT . There are a couple ways to play ones own tier or higher .
CC tiered tourneys .They are ranked and challenging .
CREATE A GAME . MP ( multiplayer ) Stroke play . Also ranked . Perhaps the toughest MP format in WGT .
JOIN A GAME . MP Stroke play .DanB89W:

No . There is no program that increases ones difficulty by specific tiers progressively in Coins .
The only way to simulate that scenario is for it to be created in CC's . Or MP Stroke play .

Thanks pdb. Just to clarify, If I am in Platinum 1, I'm not more likely to paly against other players in Platinum 1. It's still fairly random who I am matched up against for coin games?

That is correct . There is such a vast number of players on the verge of placing anywhere in any of the Diamond Leagues . ( other than the ones showing currently ) .
That there is virtually no chance of meeting up and playing another current player on the list .
If that is something that you want to do . You can easily send any player a friend request . And or post on his or her wall . Become friends . Chat in the PM ( private message ) message system . And arrange to meet up and play any format at any time .
Consider it a friendly challenge . To see if they are worth their weight in Platinum .
That will give you the opportunity to play rounds that record all of your stats . Ranked Rounds .
No offense but " The real WGT" .

Coin leagues are a mess. I lost count of how many games I played this week in the Casablanca room for 10,000 coins in the Platinum II league. I was leading the field for 3 days then out of the Blue some guy is 200,000 coins in front of me and he wasn't sighted an hour before.
I thought ok I will give it a go. I think I got to within 80,000 coins of him, logged off and a day when I log on he has 1,800,000 + coins ;0(
He's rated 142 and is basically taking advantage of WGT's poor management.
The way it stands you could stop playing for coins for 2 weeks..drop down the ladder among the pro to master players...go play 1 game and no one would catch you.
Each league should surely have a list of rooms you can play in to stop this garbage which is more or less cheating

Yes AD is correct . That is why it is called " The Diamond League " and not the " Platinum league " .

"DIAMOND LEAGUES"
Above the CasaBlanca room is
RIO 20,000 ENTRY FEE
SHANGHAI 50,000
MONTREAL 100,000
TOKYO 250,000
MAHATTAN 500,000
BELLAGIO 2,500,000 ENTRY FEE's
Fortunately there aren't as many players in those rooms .
In CasaBlanca one would need to play around 200 games per month to keep up .
please see : WGT COIN ROOMS & PCEA

"COIN ROOMS"
2 things .
1) Players will be matched up with any and all players in that Coin Room at the time .
2) In rooms such as Casa Blanca . Players play from the same tees .

"The Diamond Leagues"
Those leagues are open to all coin room players and all rooms . The higher your coin room wins . The higher you will be on the leaderboard . Those leagues don't mean anything anyway .
