Went to log in to Facebokk today .

Not only do I play several games through Facebook .

But I was applying for a job this morning . The company has a Facebook link . I clicked on it . This is what I got .

I found that I have been locked out of my Facebook account . I visit my Facebook account about twice or 3 times per year .

I wish my wife and kids a happy birthday . ( I usually make them a card in Photoshop ). Thank them and others for their well wishes .

That's about it .

The page said . That they find that my page does not fit their Community Standards . Lol .

If I disagree with this decision .

Click disagree .

I did .

I mean What the fucking hell are they talking about . I don't even pay attention to Facebook . Much less post anything there .

Now I wait " just over a day " . To find their decision . What a pain in the ass .

About 20 hours ago . At about 6:00 PM MST . 6/10/2023 .

I looked over at my loving wife . As she rolled to the side and looked at me with pleading eyes . Trying to say
" I can't , I can't S , S , SSS " . Then " Help me ".

" Honey what's wrong ? "

" Fuck , shit " .

Honey you've had another stroke . We need to get us together and get you to the hospital .

This will be her 3rd and by far the worst stroke yet .

20 minutes later we arrived at the hospital .

CT scans showed no bleeding on the brain .

Because her condition was incoherent . Not able to speak .

I then had to make the decision to allow them to administer a high powered blood thinning treatment . Called a TPA .

This works to try and break up any blood clots that are affecting her functions in her brain .

And can only be done within the 1st 4 hours of the stroke .

The danger is . This TPA can also induced bleeding in other parts of her body .

But in her best interests . It is best to administer it . Let it do its work , For a better chance at a better recovery .

So I said yes .

Up until now I have been terrified .

Slowly some improvement showed .

By midnight that treatment was over . And she had been transferred to a better nuerological hospital .

Enough little improvement that I relaxed a little .

2 new CAT scans . 1 without contrast and 1 with . Showed both scans to be clear of blood .

After a few hours sleep . Me in a recliner . The next day ( today ) . She is barely able to work her language functions .

She can't voice her words and thoughts yet ( very well ) .

Although it looks and seems like memory . They say it is not . It is not able to put it to speach .

Waiting on a  MRI this afternoon .

Another night in the hospital at least .

Very difficult to determine improvement at this point . She is exhausted . Needs more sleep .

Only time will tell .

All I'll say is the hospital disrespected my wife in a big way . When I found out . I had to tell her .

She flew off the handle . And demanded to go home .

Despite her condition of lack of speach motor skills . Her brain not able to send the signals for her to speak . Disorientation and confusion as well .

Despite the plan to start a 10 day in patient intensive speach and physical therapy rehabilitaion in another facility .

Despite mine , her neurologist , physician , PCP , brother , son , best friend , & nurse .

Knowing that is her best plan forward .

None of us could stop her from demanding to be sent home . Discharged .

 If we didn't . She would walk out of there AMA ( against medical advice ) and lose her insurance coverage . At least for the last 4 days . And she didn't give a fuck .

Despite her condition . Which is just short of incompetant . Which was an option I would never do to her .

She got her way . She was discharged and we arrived home about an hour ago .

She has now lost the option of in patient rehab . Probably out patient as well . And is only willing to agree to home care rehab . Which is only 3 days a week . For an hour each time . And is a small fraction of what she needs and could have had .

Talk about frustrated . Humiliated . Disrespected . Embarrassed . ETC .

Not a damn thing myself or anyone could do about it .

So that's the update .

It has been 2 weeks since we came home from the hospital .
We went to the Library and got her a library card . And checked out some childrens books .

She gets better every day

We were first trying to get referrals for home care speech & physical therapy .

She is doing so much better . So she will be going to a neurophysical therapy center next to Banner Desert Hosp .
It is 30 miles but it is a very good rehab .

She went there before . After her first 2 strokes . But they were nothing compared to this one .

I am very happy with her progress as she is as well .

It just takes time .

UPDATE on this post .

When we got back from the doctor's . At 5:00 PM . My internet was restored . After 4 days . Woo Hoo ! . The ethernet is smooth as silk .

Now i got 428 emails to sort . UGH .

I'll start with the good news . 

Karen's stroke recovery is going very well . Her physical and occupational therapy has her physically in the best shape in many years . 

We are also much closer and happier than we have ever been . 

Just as soon as we start feeling good about everything . 

Karen has her annual mammogram . They detect something in her left breast . They order an ultrasound .

That determines there is a lump . Biopsy is scheduled 11/16/2023 .

11/21/2023 we get the call . Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), also called infiltrating ductal carcinoma,


11/22/2023 we get a call from 

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center at Banner Gateway Medical Center

Her first appointment is 12/12/2023 .

There has been some tears from both of us . But my job is to keep her spirits up . Keep her mind off of it . Encourage her and fill her with hope . ( good luck with that ) . If there is one thing I am good at . It is being strong in the face of adversity . 

So I took her to Walmart right away to do some shopping . That helped a little . 

Man oh man this is just one more hurdle for us . 

We're going to do this . Beat this shit . And get on with it .

Karen met with her Oncologists yesterday Dec 12 . For her  Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), also called infiltrating ductal carcinoma,


Wonderful lady . Dr. Brittany Murphy .


We . Especially Karen had been freaked out the last couple weeks . The doctor really calmed us down . 


She is already scheduled for her surgery . January 3 2024 . Lumpectomy .


First there will be several pre op procedures imaging , planting a seed ( clip ) in the location .


Then surgery . 


Then some radiation .


Then 5 years of hormone pills to stop the estrogen . Which is what irritates the tumor . 


Everything will go well . Just another lump in the road . 

Karen had a successful lumpectomy yesterday Wednesday Jan 3 2024 . The surgeon also removed a couple lymph nodes for biopsy and said it all went smoothly .

That most likely Karen will be a 95%er that got it all the first time . 

Thank god that is over . 

Some radiation . A couple weeks of healing .

And on to the next phase .

YAY KAREN !

AFTER 1 YEAR AND 2 DIFFERENT P/T & O/T PROGRAMS . 

KAREN HAS COMPLETED ALL OF HER THERAPY FROM HER STROKE OF 6/10/2023 .

SHE IS BETTER THAN BEFORE PHYSICALLY . 

STILL HAS MOMENTARY STUTTERS AND MEMORY PROBLEMS . WHICH MAY NEVER REALLY GO AWAY .

SHE'S DOING AWESOME !
