Four surprisingly useful tools that fit on your keychain


Your keychain is one of the two or three things that you almost always have close at hand, and there are a lot of tiny accessories you can add to it that'll make far more useful, without adding much bulk.

Multitools

You might not want to attach a full Gerber multitool or Swiss Army Knife to your keychain--bulk aside, it's likely to get confiscated the first time you accidentally bring it to an airport or sporting event--but there are smaller, more limited tools that do make sense to attach next to your car keys.
The Gerber Shard is a personal favorite of mine, and makes it incredibly easy to tear through packing tape, open bottles, and even turn screws in a pinch, all for about $6-$7. I've owned the black one for a long time, and not for nothing, it's developed a nice patina after rattling around in my pocket with my keys for years.
Marlboro & Kane's Claw can technically do nearly anything the Shard can, albeit not as easily. But the single piece of titanium is smaller than the diameter of a penny, and is easily the smallest multitool you'll find.
