The Greatest Show on Grass
WM Phoenix Open
The WM Phoenix Open, known as “The Greatest Show on Grass,” held at TPC Scottsdale annually in early February. The WM Phoenix Open is the best-attended golf tournament in the world with more than 700,000 fans in attendance.
The 2021, WM Phoenix Open raised more than $3.8 million dollars for charity and have raised more than $165M for charities in it’s 85-year history.
The WM Phoenix Open has won the PGA TOUR’s “Best Title Sponsor Integration Award” for diverting 100% of tournament waste from landfills.
Zero waste means nothing from the tournament went to landfills in three years – not a single cup, can, sign or container.
All ticket sales and volunteers are coordinated through the Thunderbird organization.

Stadium Course
Host of the WM Phoenix Open
The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale
As the PGA TOUR stop with the largest crowds of any golf event in the world, The WM Phoenix Open brings immeasurable attention and respect to the Stadium Course, designed by the team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish.
The course, which was renovated in 2014, is most famous for its par-3, 16th hole that transforms into “The Coliseum” during the tournaments and provides fans with one of the most exciting settings in professional sports.
During the 51 weeks of the year when fans are not watching the sport’s top names make history, they can test their own skills on the same pristine fairways – maintained to PGA TOUR-quality standards year-round – as their favorite professionals.

Champions Course
An Ideal Desert Golf Experience
The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale
Rivaling its famous sister course in both beauty and playability, the Randy Heckenkemper-designed Champions Course offers an ideal desert golf experience.
Built on the former site of TPC Scottsdale’s Desert Course, the layout was completely revamped in 2007 to flow seamlessly within the naturally rugged terrain, meandering between natural ravines and through picturesque foothills.
The course was crafted to balance strategy with design, so as not to favor any one type of play.
Each hole can be played a multitude of ways – providing golfers of all skill levels with a challenging experience that can be significantly different each time they play.
A quartet of challenging finishing holes adds an acclaimed ending stretch that promises to leave even the best players with goose bumps.

PGA TOUR Player Quotes
PGA TOUR Player-Approved
TONY FINAU: “It seems to be very similar, but the greens were so good, man, especially that front nine, you know, when you’ve got fresh greens in the morning. Me and Rickie got pretty hot there with the putter for a nice little stretch and it was fun to be in that mix. But the golf course is perfect right now. It doesn’t seem like there’s a blemish on it. The greens are perfect. So you hit the shots, you execute the shots, you’re going to score out here and I was able to do that today.”
TONY FINAU: “I like the golf course. I like the vibe. I like the energy. Just haven’t performed. So I’m happy to be finally playing the weekend again this week”
WEBB SIMPSON: The golf course has gotten more firm every day, so it’s going to be challenging tomorrow, but guys I think are still looking at it as plenty of birdie opportunities. This course is playing shorter so we’re having shorter clubs in, even though the greens are more firm.
BILLY HORSCHEL: Yeah I think the greens have been really good shape the last couple years. There surely aren’t any thin areas out there that there’s been in the past. I mean, I think we all know coming here every year there are just a lot of divots in the fairways and a lot of pitch marks on the greens. It’s just a golf course that gets beat up with play, historically, before we get here. But it’s always in really good shape. They do a really good job even with dealing with 150, 200 people playing all the way up until Saturday before the event, of taking care of the golf course. But, yeah the greens are by far the best I think I’ve seen them in sense of health-wise and sense of grass and not having any bare areas around the edge of the greens or anything else.
JON RAHM: “t’s just a fun event, great golf course, always in great shape”
BUBBA WATSON: I had a house out here for nine years, I love it out here. I mean the charity dollars that all these people raise is amazing. So I love it. It’s always, nine out of 10 years it’s always perfect weather.
JUSTIN THOMAS: It’s (Hole 16) going to be pretty wild. It seems like every year it gets crazier and crazier. But it’s so hard to control your adrenaline, you have so many juices pumping and you’re kind of like hands are tingling and it’s a little shaky. It’s just, it’s a great atmosphere, it’s a great hole. The fans are unbelievable, they are what makes this event what it is.
JORDAN SPIETH: Yeah, it’s a cool atmosphere. It’s unlike any other FedEx Cup event. 16 is the hole out here. I think 15 is my favorite just walking up there, and I think it’s a great par-5. It’s been a great environment out here.
RICKIE FOWLER: It’s a good atmosphere, I feel very comfortable here. Waste Management’s been awesome, it’s nice to see them step up and pick up the title sponsor for another, what’s it going to be, 11, 12 years from now, 2030. It’s fun here. I enjoy the golf course, you kind of, you can play it however you want and I’ve kind of stuck to my game plan here the last few years and I definitely developed my own game plan over the first say five years or so here, but I enjoy it, I’m looking forward to a rowdy crowd tomorrow afternoon.
MATT KUCHAR: The whole course is in great shape. Greens are firm, they’re fast. You need to be in the fairway to try to get a ball close. Just, the greens are that firm, you need to be in control to try to have a chance at birdie.
BRENDAN STEELE: I like TPCs for some reason, so any time you see a TPC on the schedule, you can expect to see me there.
PHIL MICKELSON: Yeah, this is a special place, this just never gets old.
