One of my sisters was an air hostess for a now defunct Australian airline. It is like any other job. Air hostesses are not just glorified waitresses - they are also trained in airline safety and belongs to hostessen jobs. If the wings fall off high in the sky, everyone dies. If the plane has to do an emergency landing where there is a good chance of survival, the air hostesses are in charge of getting you out of the plane safely, either on to the ground, or into the life rafts, depending on whether you are on land or sea.

One of my sons is an airline pilot - he has seen air hostesses in action while training on mock-up crashes, and says that air hostesses are well trained in saving passenger lives, and their procedures are well drilled and most impressive!!! (He had to be a pretend passenger in a pretend crash landed airplane). In an emergency everyone freezes - cabin crew are trained to shout at passengers to force them to react and to obey cabin crew instructions. I can only speak for Australian and Emirates airlines. No doubt there are a few bad apples, but that can occur in any line of work.

Interesting story . Sounds like you are very proud of your sister . As you should be . Sounds like she is well trained . And could be a critical factor in an emegency .

For example, Hostessen Köln promoting a technology product may need to have a basic understanding of the product's features and functionality, while a hostess promoting a food product may need to have knowledge of cooking and food preparation.
