I would hope each round would take about a week.

  The last MP round I played was against adaputter last year in andyson's Community Memorial Tourn.
  My good friend Dennis is looking out and giving me another chance to make it past the "second round",,,LOL.

In the bracket scoring I have to put a numbers in each players little box*.
All scores will show as 1-0 wins, we really don't need to know if someone got beat 5 and 4!

Have not had the chance to play a game with the new Friend , I have seen him in the forums ( Reformed thing ) . We have talked and found work hour,s and time diff,s East coast - West coast . Together we worked out a time to play on Monday , I look foward to this match .

I have to say Jesse was really unlucky on some occasions yesterday, but took his misfortune like a true gentleman and sportsman. I would highly recommend him as a playing partner to anyone.

Just finished match with Paul and won up 2 .
Got off to a fast start with winning the first 2 holes and Paul battled back on the 5 with a no brainer less than 2 ft bird to make it within a 1 shot contest. I made a lucky putt on 8 for the win.
It was a well played match by Paul as we played and was reminded of Andy

What my new British friend didn't say is I wanted him to start celebrating early so I could sneak back into the match. Alas, he didn't fall for my gambit even as I recovered a little bit of pride pushing it to eight holes.
Most importantly we had fun celebrating together the legacy of Andyson.

I just played a fun and exciting round with iain.
I was 1 UP going into 9 and shanked my approach, hit the sand and as any good player iain took advantage and won the hole sending our match into extra holes.
1st extra hole I missed a short 6 footer - Game -Match - iain. Congratulations to iain and GL moving forward my friend.
TY again to everyone who took the time and effort to make this Community Tournament THE BEST yearly tournament going.

BigCountry wins 4 up on the 6th,I did managed to half 2 holes and i think that's because i managed 1 decent approach and 1 long bird. Even as short as it was was great fun and great company which made it a great game . Was a pleasure to lose to a class player. Well played Aaron best of luck in rest of bracket rounds

Had the pleasant opportunity to meet & play Qputts in the first round. I lasted longer than I ever thought possible, but justice prevailed in the end as usual. Thanks for the great company & enjoyable round.

Edit: After posting this, I found that not only was Qputts good company on the course, but quite magnanimous in victory, as he gifted me a sleeve & a much needed wedge.

Alanti beats Twominusone after extra holes in a very enjoyable game. Sometimes we where convinced Andy was playing a part in the game, lol. Some great play from both players too.

Big thanks to Paul and everyone involved in running the tournament again this year, and im already looking forward to next years. Kudos to you all, and most importantly, in memory of our Pal Andyson.

I just finished my game with TWOMINUSONE, Jimmy.
What great company and played with someone who was really involved during the Andyson days...and so it was real real honour to play with Jimmy.
We had some laughs and a few more!!!!
It encapsulated what this event is all about having fun and celebrating Dennis.
Now for the record, we scored pretty well, and the highlights were a hole out by Jimmy on #3 for eagle...after I was a foot away lol.
But on #8, I was a little short, back pin......and Jimmy quipped .......I have had more holes in one here than other holes..........and guess what........yup HIO BOOOOOOMMMM.
LMAO - Dennis was Dancing....or doing a jig in celebration....I am sure
The game for the record went 2 extra holes....and sadly Jimmy found the mulch over in the sand to the left of the par 5 (I never knew it existed) and effectively ended Jimmy's chances.
A sad way for it to finish......but perhaps that was Andyson having the last laugh.
A friend made (how we were not friends before is bewildering lol)
The record say;s Alanti def twominusone.......but we were both winners today.

Personally . If I were he . I would make the effort to find the time to play the matchplay round . If there ever was a tournament that would warrant that one justifies stepping up to play . This IMSO would be it .
Not about rules or money or , credits , or status , or wins . Or all of the usual reasons that one would be entering a tournament .It is about something much more important . Respect .
I respect that when a person moves . Everything is an inconvenience to say the least .
I would also respect this tournament and take 30 minutes to play .

Played nanstar and lost 2/1. He played very solid and my 4 or 5 birdies wasn`t enough. Very nice chap too, good luck Keith in the rest of the tournament )

Well said guys! Although I'm also out, I'm also still in. Having said that, the paid work from Paul has dried up!! He'll find me a new task in time, no doubting that!
And as part of this year's Memorial, I'm happy to have made some new friends (which is in keeping with last year's event). Only this morning I received an invite from the said txzdave for a nice matchplay at St Georges. It was good to shoot the breeze (as you guys over the pond say) over a nice cup of tea (in keeping with this side of the pond)!
Now Doc & I need to get a game sorted, if we can match up on the inter-dimensionals and whatnots!

  I live near Houston Texas, and due to the problems we are experiencing from Hurricane Harvey, I have withdrawn in my match with MioKontic. While not personally affected at our house, we have friends and people in our neighborhood who have needed some help.
  Dennis has been in my thoughts, and I am glad to see the way our WGT community has come together again this year to honor our friend. I am proud of you guys.

I have a charity event coming up in a little over a week and my time is so limited at the moment. I waited for Dan so i'm not sure what's happened, normally I could be a lot more flexible.

It was my pleasure Chris and I look forward to playing again when you are available in the near future. You're a very nice person to have a match with. too. I enjoyed it although I didn't serve up much competition for you. But it's all about the camaraderie, something Andyson was about. I look forward to playing in the 3rd Annual Memorial Tournament again next year.
Kudos to Paul and all his volunteers to make this one of the more fun annual events, everyone wins!! And not to mention Vancy for his excellent videos too!! Ya gotta love em!!

Darek2 and I went ahead and shot R2.......he wins 1up
It was a strange round. He was off on approaches early and I was throwing 'em in there pretty tight but couldn't make a putt to save my life. He caught eagle at 12 (I dead center lipped a putt out for eagle from the top shelf) but he hit a beauty of a drive. He got to 2up on the next one as I ran another putt along the rim. After that, the putts started falling for me but he managed to dial in the approaches as well. Heck of a finish Darek, very well played & good luck moving forward!
Thanks again to all that have a hand in running this event and to those that participated! I never new Andyson personally but have enjoyed reading his posts and such in the main forum over the years. He was a class act and is dearly missed by the wgt community.

Had a cracking game with my new WGT buddies SlicedPepper and Shedlite yesterday morning, their very early morning! None of us played that well, the bogeys flowed like alien piss, but we had a great time.

  Its about the FUN , Friends , and more than the Pro shop has to offer .
  To me having this time to play said WGT for the reason other than a Christmas give away to bring the community together in a way for the name of Andyson makes me proud to be one of us . US being them - the others , the few that march on out side the box looking for the Squatch .
  Please keep your hands inside the ride at all times was the words from a special player long ago that keeps true till this day .

  MioKontic and I just finished our match and Mio won 2 up.
  I spent a lot of my time in the sand and even found myself in some jungle off to the right on 7 (?, 70-80 brush?), but I somehow managed to stay with him up until that point.

  My original opponent unfortunately had to concede his game due to the storm in Texas. MrCaddie stepped in to take his place. We had a good game, but more importantly we had a good chat about old times, remembering the good old days when the forum was graced by wonderful charaters like Andyson, LizzieRossetti, StrangeMagic and YancyCan, the first two of those no longer with us, and StrangeMagic unfortunately contracted a degenerative eye disease that made him almost blind and had to give up the game. I rarely play WGT any more, but I will continue to play this tournament in memory of Andy and other friends who are no longer here. Many thanks to Paulton and the other organisors of this tournament.

  I also had to earn mine against solanna. Looked like it was going to be a short match, when I took the 1st 3 holes with a -4, but Erv battled back valiantly with some excellent shots and made it to the last green, where we were both around 9-10 feet from the hole, sitting on eagle putts, with me 1 up. We both just missed them. If Erv had a tad more luck with his putter on a few holes, it could've ended very differently.

Thanks for the game mate! That landfill just does not sit well in my stomach with the morning coffee but I did raise my mug to Dennis and wish everyone the best of luck and a great time through the rest of this great event. Absolutely . And thank God this an open event with the personel willing to wait and make unforeseen changes to allow things to run as smoothly as possible .
But at the same time . Not being a WGT santioned event . Still could mean that a serious , sporting , maybe above normal effort might be requied at times to try and keep it running smoothly . For the sake of what this event means to us . The less reshuffling and replacing the hosts have to do . The better and funner the event will be .
No I am not saying it is not fun .
IMSO the GR8est event of the year .

The tournament started the first of August and now its September a month later .

Now I'm working with sheltering Florida people who are fleeing the storm, but, our church is full and I'm not needed as much now as more volunteers came on board as it's now the weekend. was quiet enjoyable(execpt for the 1st play-off hole where paul had the misfortune of 3 putting)

Thats a bunch of crock .They have been playing everyday from the 3rd up to today . Matter of fact all of the players who havent played their rounds are playing every day . Some are playing 3 - 4 xs a day but wont play here . If they dont want to play fine then withdraw and let those who want to play have those slots .
It makes no sense that we came together to honor a player and have fun . But cant do that because of those who have just gotten in the way and are holding up everything . So if you go through the roster Paul you will see that the 12 who havent posted are playing brackett tournaments for credits , and have been playing every day .
Paul if you can see if you can replace them all and get the real players who want to play. I know there are some still out there and replace the dead beats . They dont want to play because they would have done so by now .

Onekeano missed a 45 foot quadruple breaker on the 12th as I holed out from 439 yards with a punch from Chambers first tee box. Despite driver putting prowess, the fringe tricked me into hitting one hundred and fifty feet past the hole to the 10th at Congressional. I tried to play smart from that point, but oddly enough found myself at Pinehurst with a bowl haircut.

This is often the case with matchplay split over different time zones.....just because both players may have played daily, it does not mean they played at the same time.....or even close to it.
Pretty much I can play evenings only (when only serious US night owls are around lol), so playing matchplay can sometimes mean I am restricted to playing weekends only......which if I am playing anyone outside of Aus/NZ or Asia, means only Sunday (due to time zones - or Saturday US/UK) if the other player can also only play weekends - miss the time slot and it is another week!
It is one reason I sometimes skip CC vs CC comps and similar as I know the effort to get the match in can be too difficult.
I think most players try to get the games in, especially in the Memorial.

That is upstanding and honorable . But to hide your head in the sand and not be accountable for this event . is unnacceptable . All the while playing other events dailly . IMSO .

Bumping this back up . Looks like WGT is trying to bury the thread . At the same time there are players still lagging behind in their play . I find it very hard to believe that the players cant get together and set up a play time .

Just finished my 3rd round match against newcastleb. I was a tad luckier than Thomas and came through 2&1. But would've been just as happy with a loss, I really enjoyed meeting him.

Hey everyone,
This may be a bad time to post this as we pause for a moment of silence and pray for Yancy after he collapsed after eating the "burnt oatmeal flavored" cricket bar and Opy was no where in sight and may have been scooped up by aliens from another planet.
Paulton has assured me that we must move on...so I'd like to let everyone know, that with Paul's permission, I have turned the 2017 Andyson Memorial medallion into a real life, stainless steel golf ball marker.
I have purchased 50 of these and will be sending them out to the organizers of the event, the winners of the event and Andyson's family. The balance of which will be given out to random players that completed the first two rounds of stroke-play.
Here is a look at them-

Stay tuned.
I will start a separate thread at the end of this event to announce the giveaways.

I am, however,a little concerned that my matchplay partner ( Qputts) has not shown any activity in 5 days. Hopefully all is okay on his end & we can keep this movin' along.

well the 2 finalists from last year met again tonite
jure wasnt at his normal best tonite, lack of sleep(happens with new baby)
but still was good golf from both
after J went 1 up after the 1st, he lost his way a little to be 2 down after 4,
jure pull 1 back at the 5th, we halved the 6th (only 1 we halved with par) only for me to go 2 ahead again on the 7th,
halved the 8th with birds, so 2 up win for myself
small bit of revenge for me:)
was again a real pleasure playing J, always good and tight games,

So....For a story or two......Random join game type of day.
That's when I wandered into Dennis' world. Now I know many people can't wrap their heads around this kind of community......I still wonder myself about Us.....
But that was the best game I ever played in this timeline that is my life on this place.
Every single thing about that afternoon was retrospective. It was what this is.
I'll say this.
This is the best thing there is here.

It looks like Qputts hasn't been on for a while, maybe he's in Florida or Texas and has been hit by one of the hurricanes.
I know you have already let me jump in and play the match play event for another player that couldn't make it, but I'll gladly volunteer to jump in again and play for Qputts against Doc. I'm friends with Doc and have seen he's on every night.
I know there are other players that didn't make it into the match play event that would love to play....I just want to throw my name in the hat as someone who is available to play with Doc within the next 12 hours and help move the tournament forward.

Qputts was out of town for ten days, I was out of town for the next one, We have been in contact, and,our game is scheduled for tomorrow between 2:00 and 5:00 PM EST. Our sincere apologies to all involved for the delay, this was just an unforeseen happenstance which we had no control over. Thank you Paul, for offering to step in to keep things moving, but, hopefully tomorrow we can get this back on track.

Some are playing 3 - 4 xs a day but wont play here . If they dont want to play fine then withdraw and let those who want to play have those slots .
It makes no sense that we came together to honor a player and have fun . But cant do that because of those who have just gotten in the way and are holding up everything . So if you go through the roster Paul you will see that the 12 who havent posted are playing brackett tournaments for credits , and have been playing every day .
Paul if you can see if you can replace them all and get the real players who want to play. I know there are some still out there and replace the dead beats . They dont want to play because they would have done so by now .

I've just returned home to Adelaide after flying to Perth to be with my dying mother.
She passed away on September 16 and her funeral was held there last Friday.
Thanks Paul and Qputts for your understanding, nice to see the game got played.

Made the world of difference in the healing process and allowed me to set my head straight for when the baby came a few months later.

Thanks for the well wishes and thanks to Paul and company for running this great event.
One night a few years back I was searching for a 9 hole match and up popped Andyson. I of course recognized him from seeing his funny and informative posts. I believe Olympic was the venue and we were all square after 9,and 10, and 11........
Finally after 18 holes he wore me out and won with a birdie:) At some point during the match I sent a friend request which he accepted.
I'm still very glad to this day that I was able to have a game with Dennis:)

mystry78 beat ItsTooSweet in the 5th match play. Thanks for the game Frank. He had great course knowledge and executed some great putts including an over 20 ft eagle. I led the whole game and he came back in the final two holes with two great clutch putts, both over 10 feet. Very nice. Chris

Fantastic golf by Chris here, we matched birdies early on and then I found myself 1 down. Got hot with the putter down the stretch and was very fortunate to squeak out a win against a great player. Thanks for a great match Chris! Frank

Good luck Frank & Darek & congrats on making it this far in this tournament to honor one of WGT's greats. TY again Paulton and co. for all your efforts in keeping the tradition alive, and, moving along. This has not been as smooth as we all would have liked, unfortunately, real life intervenes in our virtual world and causes unforeseen delay s. Absolutely Drmoose. I said it before, and will say it again. I have not been playing WGT as much as i used to. I had a reminder set up for the Annivarsary of Dennis, and when i saw that reminder pop up, i came back onto the forums in the hope that the Memorial would be up and running again. I was delighted to see that it was being held again this year, and i had to participate in honour of Dennis. So, a huge shout out to everyone who organised, played, and remembered the good times. And a huge congrats to the winner Darek. Well done all, you should all be proud of yourselves. But my biggest shout out goes to Paulton, because there is no telling if the memorial would have been held again this year if Paul hadnt set it up. Well done all.

Well it's a good damn thing Paulton is never going to let that happen .

This years 2017 Andyson Memorial Tournament . From sign in to finish took some 105 days .

4 threads and 117 pages .

I think 169 players .

Absolutely the biggest and best and funnest single event I have ever participated in here . There have been many GR8 events over the years .

But nothing with this much heart and sole . All to commemorate the one GR8 man that deserves all this . And it means so much more NOW . That it is Created and Run by his WGT friends and players . And be this succesful . For the purposes of celabrating GR8 memories , playing fun golf , making new friends , Giving throughout , giving to charities . a gathering of at least 169 players with good souls and intent . With no fees or charges or any concern of money at all .

To read through the 4 threads . To read and hear the friendships new and old . To read the sincere gratutude and thanx from so many .

Made the choice on which way to go in this years memorial for me difficult again . it would have been cool to capture all the GR8 and funny remarks . All the heartfelt thanx .

As much of that as there was . would have been too much of an undertakoing . And too long and yes boring .

So this year . I have instead captured all of the artwork and videos . From the sign in , round 1 , round 2 , the matchplay rounds . Combined them all into the tribute . With a few posts along the way . With all the pposts from the semi finals to the end .

Pretty good stuff . And a lot of work and editing and altering of the difference btween the format here and of my website . Just to make it as clean and colorful as i could .

There was one more piece of business to take care of for me here......... I just went to springerrescue.org and made a donation in memory of Dennis Anderson. I believe this was one of Andyson's favorite charities.... It's been a pleasure to take part in this great event for a great guy. Frank

Been away from forums lately. I am a tad behind and slowly getting up to par with postings Congrats Darek in winning this awesome fun tourney Paul resumed it very well on page one, with the great looking trophy it was a huge turn out and much fun. Combined with great interaction and get together To all involved, that contributed to organise this event.
